Nestled along Lake Macatawa, an inland lake just behind protecting sand dunes rising along Lake Michigan’s eastern shore you’ll find the city of Holland, MI. It’s the perfect setting for weekend getaways, family vacations, and year-round recreation, with acres of beaches and parks, and festivals and events for every season. Holland is home to the world famous Tulip Time festival each May, when more than six million tulips burst into bloom as the town celebrates its Dutch heritage. Holland has many unique restaurants. quaint cafes and a downtown farmers market that add to the charm of Holland’s Victorian style downtown, which boarders the campus of Hope College. Big Red lighthouse is visible from the miles of beaches along the shores of Lake Michigan.
Macatawa Hills on the south side of Holland has often been called the Cape Cod of the Midwest with its unrivaled Lakefront properties and views of both Lake Michigan and Lake Macatawa. Castle Park, a similar neighborhood bordering the lake Michigan shoreline and Macatawa Hills is where the inspiration for the movie The Wizard of Oz was achieved; visit there and you will see why. On the Northside of Holland is the famous Holland State Park where visitors come from miles around to visit the pristine beach and of course, Big Red Lighthouse.
A little farther north and little less known Tunnel park is a wonderful Lake Michigan park with everything from volleyball to dune rolling, and the views of the coastline from the top of the sand dune will keep you coming back to this little gem on the the Lake Michigan shoreline. Holland is a boaters paradise with accessible marinas and easy access to Lake Michigan, you will soon see why power boat magazine ranked Holland as one of the top spots for power boating.
The Holland real estate market is as complete as it gets, from affordable city homes, to conveniently built subdivisions, a robust condominium market, and of course, Lake Michigan properties for the most discerning of Lakefront investors and second home enthusiasts.
